Butterfly Themed 4th Birthday Party!

We are enchanting you with a whimsical dessert table that we created for Pricilla, a sweet little girl, who happens to love sweets! Pricilla was surrounded by lots of sweetness as she celebrated her 4th birthday.

Drawing inspiration from her Tinkerbell inspired party; we incorporated a purple and green color palette with unexpected pops of orange and teal blues. The colorful sugar butterflies added a whimsy feel suitable for her age.

You will find our signature touch of glamour in the edible gold leaf that topped Pricilla’s favorite chocolate cake, frosted in lavender icing…she also adored the cookies!

Guests enjoyed red velvet filled cake pops, each hand dipped in chocolate and decorated with purple, green and gold sprinkles.

Butterfly kisses were displayed in purple vintage jars while the dessert table was adorned in floral vines, moss and ranunculus.

Mixtures of white and chocolate cupcakes were topped with gold leaf, green lily pads and orange, gold and teal colored butterflies to match the cake.

We integrated a variety of hand painted cookies including sunflowers, honeybees, butterflies, lily pads and butterflies.

We gave the cake stand and props a new life by painting them in a shimmery gold spray paint.

What’s a party without candy?  Guest satisfied their sweet tooth with purple rock candy crystals, sweet tarts representing fairy dust, purple m&m’s and butterfly kisses.

Styling tips and tricks:
Tip #1 - This was an outdoor party so we put the desserts out just before the party started to keep them as fresh as possible and out of direct sunlight.
Tip #2 – Being that this was a child’s party; we used plastic and plexy glass vessels as candy jars and where ever possible rather than real glass.
Tip #3 – Take a few minutes to restock, remove or rearrange vessels once the sweets are consumed to keep a perfect presentation!

How adorable is the birthday girl sneaking off with a cookie...

{Royal Wedding Cakes}

The Royal wedding is only a few days away and everyone is anticipating what every detail of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding day is going to be like. Although I can't wait to see the beautiful dress Kate wears, I'm equally excited to see what the wedding cake is going to look like. It has already been announced that the royal couple has chosen to feature two cakes. The main cake will be a multi-tiered traditional fruit cake with white icing created by designer Fiona Cairns. There will also be a special chocolate biscuit cake for Prince William reminiscent of his favorite childhood dessert.

What we don't know just yet is what the main cake will look like. Undoubtedly, it will be amazingly beautiful looking at Fiona Cairn's past work. Although the design remains a secret, we've heard that Kate has asked Fiona to incorporate popular English styling such as piping and scrollwork on the cake. She has also asked Cairn's to represent different blooms and foilage in her design that was very popular in the Victorian era.

In the spirit of this Royal wedding that is upon us and celebrating Mother nature's beauty that inspires brides everywhere, I thought it would be fun to feature beautiful flower and foilage inspired cake designs.

Which one is your favorite....
